Wednesday

No other creative title for this post is coming to mind... Sorry! Just one of those weeks!

Not a whole lot new to report! I'm still feeling really good. I guess I started showing this week. It's hard to tell when you already had a beer belly to begin with (oh, beer, how I miss you), but I still haven't gained *much* weight (4 lbs i think) and I'm 12 1/2 weeks now. I think that's pretty good. Anyway, although I haven't gained much weight (my weight always has fluctuated up and down) NOTHING is fitting. I still have a couple of pairs of work pants that barely fit but I'm going to have to break down and buy a couple of pairs. Any good recommendations of places to shop? I don't like to shop online unless I know for sure what size I wear from that store, so I want to go try some things on. I was trying to hold out on maternity clothes until March (dumb idea, I know), when I get to steal all of Emily's hand-me-downs, but I guess I need to shop... Wait, that's not a bad thing???

I have my next OB appt TOMORROW! Which is very exciting because we'll get to do another ultrasound, this time w/ sound! It's so strange how slowly time seems to go while you are pregnant. Everything revolves right now around when I get to go to the Dr. next. How weird is that?

In other pregnancy news, the pregnancy acne finally got so bad it warranted a trip to the dermatologist!!! Well, that and 2 other things... You want a list? OK, no problem:

1) A strange rash appearing all over my belly and sides on Saturday morning. Red bumps that look like bug bites... not at all like hives, but still it must be a rash? We could not figure out what it could be! Craig didn't have any at all. So they started slightly burning and itching, so I better get them checked out. Turns out they WERE bug bites! The Dermatologist said it was probably just some freak mosquito or something (although they did not itch at all like mosquito bites) but HOW GROSS IS THAT? Also, my friend Cara was recently attacked by hundreds of baby black widows (long story), so that's all that's going through my mind. Craig says it would be cool to have a Spiderman baby. I, myself, don't really care for Spiderman. I think he's kind of whiny. Anyway, 2 days later w/ a prescription cream and I'm almost all better.

2) Infected oil glands. I get these quite often on my face and they are just little annoying bumps. Most people don't even notice them, but they bug me. So I had to get 2 of those taken off. It's pretty painful but only for a few seconds.

3) As above mentioned, the acne is out of hand!!! He laughed at me and gave me a prescription for a gel of some sort, but there's a lot you have to stay away from while pregnant.

Wasn't that an exciting list???? This post is riveting.

So, I got a postcard in the mail yesterday at work for Dolce Spa. $50 for an organic, customized 1 hour facial!!! It was like a sign from God. I called right away and got in at 5:30 last night... My skin feels SO much better today already. I think this might be something I need to splurge on once in a while!

2008

1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?

Got married to an amazing man!

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Well, sorta. Last year my resolution was to quit smoking. I did that for about 5 months, then temporarily fell off the wagon (but only “occasionally”) until November when I quit when I found out I was prego. My resolution for this year is to cut back on cursing. I’m effing sucking at that so far.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

HA! All my girlfriends are always giving birth! But a shout out to Becca (and Olivia!), Carra (and Nate!), Nicole (and Will), Jamie (and Sam) & Jody (and Sophie)! Am I forgetting anyone?

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Thank god, no! I am still really sad about Bernie Mac though. (America, these kids is terrible!)

5. What countries did you visit?

None! I can list states though: Texas, Indiana & Cali. I went camping a lot J How’s that for culture?

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?

A 3rd member of my little family! Preferably one who is healthy, red-headed and incredibly intelligent.

7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

October 4th—my wedding! And the day we found out we were pregnant.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

I would say passing 2 classes for my RHU designation. Those suckers were hard.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Not selling more business & saving more $$.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Strep Throat! I haven’t had that since I was little! It was HORRIBLE!

11. What was the best thing you bought?

iPhone (well, technically Craig bought it for me, but we have a joint checking account, so I’m taking partial credit), Pop Up Tent Camper & the Twilight book series

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Barney Bush (the Scottish Terrier) for biting a reporter.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Every single person in the media.

14. Where did most of your money go?

I HAVE NO IDEA BUT IT DID NOT GO INTO SAVINGS. I have a good idea that most of it went to paying bills on my Tempe house & a fabulous wedding/trip to Kauai.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Kauai

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?

Don’t laugh but NKOTB’s “Summertime”…

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Definitely happier
b) thinner or fatter? Neither, but I’m sure fatter is going to be hitting SOON
c) richer or poorer? Richer, now that I have the other house out of my life! Don’t ask about my credit score though...

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?

Saved $$!

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?

Spent $$!

20. How did you spend Christmas?

Quietly at home w/ my hubby & 3 doggies. Cousin Hannah came for a fun visit too.

21. Did you fall in love in 2008?

Oh, Edward Cullen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

22. What was your favorite TV program?

Dog Whisperer! But I am loving SNL again. And of course the old standards Office & 30 Rock are great.

I honestly don’t hate anyone. Except maybe Ted Kennedy or possibly

24. What did you want and get?

Plane tickets to Indy (from my parents)

25. What did you want and not get?

A million dollars.

26. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I know what I did not do and that is have a drink! I was pregnant already. So I turned 32 sober. Bummer.

27. Who did you miss?

All of my family and friends in Indiana. Also I miss Edward & Bella since I'm done w/ all of the Twilight books.

Updates! Announcements! Too Many Exclamation Points*!

Happy New Year!

I know that I haven't posted in a while, but one of my 2009 resolutions is to POST MORE! My other resolution is to stop cursing (unless seriously called for). That one hasn't gone too well so far. But I'm still trying. One reason I haven't posted much is that we haven't had much going on... Since we returned from Hawaii, we have been keeping in low-key. The holidays came and went without any drama what-so-ever. In fact, we were honestly quite bored! We are both used to spending time on airplanes, catching up with family and friends, drinking lots of wine and not getting much sleep! This year, we stayed in Phoenix and it was quiet... too quiet. We vowed never to let that happen again. I can almost guarantee that it won't!....

Since we are having a BABY in 2009! (whoo hoo!)

We just told our families before Xmas and have just started announcing to friends/family. So now, I'm announcing to the Internet. YAY.

I'm due July 28th. So far, no major complications. Aside from acne (see picture of a 13 year old), congestion & occasional heartburn, I'm feeling great so far.

My friend Nicole also tagged me in her blog. I figured this would be a good way to get back into posting.

Here are the rules: List six things that make you happy. Pass the award along to six more bloggers. Do not give the typical answers and go for the less obvious, as you all know that family, friends, God, etc would be on the list.

1) Being pregnant! Ok, that one was obvious, but I am so happy that

2) Mexican food. The good stuff. Nothing you can get at a chain restaurant, but hole-in-the-wall homemade, fresh ingredient, authentic Mexican food. Yum.

3) iPhone. Don't have one? Get one. Have one? You know what I'm talking about!

4) Sunshine. I don't care if it's cold or warm out, I just love sunlight.

5) David Sedaris. My friend Lisa gave me a couple of his books to read in 2008 and I can't stop. This is the most hilarious author ever. His books are short stories (which are great for my short attention span) and his writing style (sarcastic, witty, detailed) is right up my ally. Thank god he has more books for me to read in 2009.

6) Facebook. Craig gets so annoyed w/ me for it, but I just can't help it. I love hearing tidbits of what is going on in my friends (and long lost friends) lives. It's so easy to navigate and just fun!

* Side story: I recently received a not-so-nice email from a client who made a snippy comment about my over-use of exclamation points!
