As you know, she has been under the weather for, oh, about 3 weeks now... Starting w/ a cough, given to her by DADDY (yes, I'm still bitter), which turned into Bronchiolitis--treated by the very exciting and fun breathing treatments. A week later she didn't seem to be getting much better, so another trip to the doctor unveiled a double ear infection! After a few days on anti-biotics, she did seem to be feeling better, finally... until the horrid case of diarrhea kicked in--caused by the 10 day antibiotics!
Now, normally, you might wonder why diarrhea is a big deal? Don't babies poo in their diaper anyway? Well, apparently her poo was super acidic and caused a massive case of diaper rash. By this past Friday, she was such a hot mess. It was the saddest thing ever! Thursday night she woke up 3 times crying cause her little butt hurt so bad. By 6 am we were soaking in the bath tub. A little nude sunbathing and fresh air seemed to help (See below), but we went back to the Doctor that afternoon. We had already decided to stop the anti-biotics a few days earlier, so the diarrhea was subsiding, but this girl re-defined the word SHART for days on end. Dr. gave us some Rx cream and told us to make a concoction of that stuff, neosporin and original desitin. After one application, we could tell she was already getting better. I'm happy to report that it's almost cleared up as of this morning!
So, all that aside, her six month check up was awesome! She's still in the 95th percentile for height (27 inches), weight (19 lbs!), and head size. All proportionate. She's right on target developmentally (proof that mommy having a glass of wine occasionally is ok!). We have been feeding her solids already, but we are supposed to ramp it up to at least two meals a day. Cereal, veggies, fruit, soy. Thank goodness we don't have to do meat yet.
6 am aveeno bath (why does elmo look orange?)
Bottomless sunbathing! Her rash doesn't look bad here, but believe me, it was killer if viewed from the "other" side! Notice that she is trying to pick and eat grass... She can not be left unattended w/ grass nearby!
